My Two Cents on TLC’s Extreme Couponing

images-1

For the past few weeks, TLC has been heavily promoting the season premiere of Extreme Couponing and the commercials really peaked my interest. I thought, maybe I’d learn a thing or two about clipping coupons. So, this week, I tuned in to Extreme Couponing and live-tweeted while the episode was on. Since it was hard to get my feelings across in 140 character bits, I thought I would write a post full explaining my thoughts. If you aren’t familiar with the show, each episode documents several “couponers” from obtaining the coupons all the way to the checkout line at the grocery store.

Tweet Happy Friday everyone!  I haven’t posted a Flashback Friday since last year, when I did a Best of 2010 roundup.  In case you missed it, the last Flashback Friday I posted prior to my end of year post was on Facebook. This week’s topic is Reviews! Below are some previous blog posts about different products and…

Getting in Shape with the XBOX Kinect!

kinect_11

Tweet After much thought and consideration, I decided to pool my birthday and Christmas money and purchase an XBOX Kinect bundle to add to my existing XBOX 360.  The bundle comes with one game, Kinect Adventures and I bought Dance Central to play on it as well.  I hadn’t played a game on the system in over…

Some New Additions Thanks to Headway 2.0!

Tweet If you haven’t noticed already, my site has been changed up just a bit.  My site was built using Headway, a customizable theme for WordPress. The old Headway, version 1.6 was great….but the new Headway, version 2.0 is FANTASTIC! I still have lots to update, including my Twitter Backgrounds and Portfolio pages.  Instead of…

Movie Monday: Hereafter Review

hereafter

Tweet NOTE: If you don’t want to know key aspects of the film (i.e. SPOILERS), you probably shouldn’t read this post. What happens when you die? Do the lights just fade to black, or is there something else?  I went to see the new movie ‘Hereafter’ on opening day with my Dad.  I was really looking forward…

Movie Monday: The Social Network

watch-the-social-network-movie

Tweet NOTE: If you don’t want to know key aspects of the film (i.e. SPOILERS), you probably shouldn’t read this post. I decided to skip the opening weekend crowds and see The Social Network on a Monday afternoon. The theater was empty at first but soon filled up with all kinds of people – young ones playing…

ABC’s ‘No Ordinary Family’ – The New ‘Heroes’?

NOF_Header_large

Tweet   I am on the ABC.com mailing list and occasionally get e-mails about new shows and specials sent to me.  A few days ago, I was offered a sneak preview of the first episode of the new ABC drama ‘No Ordinary Family’. The show revolves around an “ordinary family” that consists of Stephanie Powell,…

Angry Birds: My New Super Mario Bros.

angrybirds-title

Tweet Have you heard of Angry Birds?  I never did until I got an iPod Touch last week and downloaded the Lite version.  I was instantly hooked and didn’t even wait to finish all the levels before I purchased the paid version, for 99¢.  This 99¢ has bought me hours of mindless enjoyment.  More hours…

Dave Matthews Band "Larger Than Life in 3D" Movie Review

Tweet I just got home from Larger Than Life in 3D featuring Dave Matthews Band.  Since it was announced, I have been anxiously awaiting the opening of the movie, which will only be out until December 17th.  It is playing in 500 theaters across the country, so I thought for sure it would be crowded….

Live Every Day To The Fullest. Have Hope. Do Life!

Tweet   I came across the Twitter account @DoLifeNow recently.  Do Life is a grass roots organization, introducing the positive and hope-filled DO LIFE symbol for ALL to live life to the fullest or lift the spirit of those fighting ANY disease.  Here is the background of the movement from their website: Due to a…

Panasonic 360 Degree Quick Iron Review

Tweet When I was first asked to review the Panasonic 360° Quick Steam/Dry Iron, I hesitated.  Although I do own an iron and ironing board, I have not actually used them in at least 2 years. Conveniently, the weather just got chilly and I started using my duvet again.  After 4 months in the closet after…

It's Not Vaudeville, It's Banana Shpeel!

Tweet I’ve seen the new Cirque du Soleil Banana Shpeel show advertised around the web and must admit, I am intrigued. Just the name made me laugh.  Although I’ve never seen a Cirque du Soleil show live, I have seen them on television.  Even on TV they are absolutely amazing, so I can only imagine what…

Knoyce…It Really is Better Than Just Nice.

Tweet I recently came across a new social networking site called Knoyce. The word Knoyce is based on the word nice, but it implies that something is “better than just nice”. And that it is.  Knoyce is a combination of all the great things on all sorts of social media sites. On Knoyce you can: Create a customized…

Cash4Gold: A Deal or a Dupe?

Tweet You’ve all seen the commercials.  They will send you an envelope for you to send back your gold jewelry and you will get a check back for them!  Sounds too good to be true. And according to reports, it is! First of all, why would anyone send expensive jewelry via UPS with insurance of…

MetLife Dental: Yet Another Fail

Tweet I know this is Wordless Wednesday and all, but I needed to get this off my chest.  I have had MetLife Dental for over a year now.  I pay approximately $20/month through COBRA for coverage.  Since I signed up last June, I have only used a dental service three times. The first time I…

Lemon Tree: Epic Fail

Tweet I had decided last week that I wanted to do something different with my hair. I hadn’t colored it in about 2 years and I needed a cut. Being the frugal one I have become lately, I went to Lemon Tree instead of going to a salon that would charge more than I could…

Ever Heard of a QLOG? Me Either. Until Amy Africa Started One.

Tweet I found this new blog, no wait, QLOG (99% Queries and Quintessentials & 1% Quibblings) by Amy Africa at http://www.amyafrica.com. QLOG is pronounced CLOG, and besides my love of the shoe years ago (they were comfy!), I wish I had thought of this idea myself, but I’m not surprised that someone like Amy beat me…

5 As Seen on TV Products Gone Terribly Wrong

Tweet Over the years, I have been wooed by the commercials.  You know which ones I’m talking about. Those As Seen on TV products that they make look like the BEST things you have ever purchased in your life?  I usually wait until these products are at CVS and then purchase them for around $9.99…

DVDXpress: Two Thumbs Up!

Tweet You know those DVD rental kiosks that you see in the supermarket? Well, I always walked by them and never paid attention while I went to Blockbuster. For a few years after I met Harry, I signed up for Blockbuster Online.  This worked out for us because with a $17.99 per month membership, you…

Two fabulous nights at Jones Beach with DMB

Tweet Night One: Tuesday, 7/21/09 It rained all day and I was starting to get nervous that I would see DMB for the second time in 2 months in the pouring rain.  I drove in with my friend, Louise (@LovelyLu) and her son.  Despite the rain, the tailgating was in full swing when we arrived. …
