The Grammy Awards nominees have been announced and Dave Matthews Band made the cut…twice! According to the DMB official website:
We are thrilled to announce that Dave Matthews Band’s Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King received Grammy nominations this evening for Best Rock Album and Album of the Year! The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled to air live from Los Angeles on CBS on January 31, 2010.
Here are the lists of fellow nominees in both awards:
Album Of The Year
I Am…Sasha Fierce – Beyonce
The E.N.D. – Black Eyed Peas
The Fame – Lady Gaga
Fearless – Taylor Swift
Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King – Dave Matthews Band
Best Rock Album
Black Ice – AC/DC
Live From Madison Square Garden – Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood
21st Century Breakdown – Green Day
Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King – Dave Matthews Band
No Line On The Horizon – U2
As much as I love Lady Gaga, if she wins the Album of the Year over DMB, I might just not like her anymore. It just wouldn’t be right. Personally, I think after last year’s snub of LeRoi in the tribute film, that the Grammy’s owe it to DMB to award them for the album they made FOR Roi. Just sayin.

MusiCares named Neil Young as their 2010 Person of the Year and will be holding a tribute in January to the singer. According to the DMB official website:

Lang, John Mellencamp, Ozomatli, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wilco and others who will come together for a MusiCares benefit to honor Neil Young as MusiCares® 2010 Person of the Year. Neil Young will be honored at a special event in Los Angeles which will celebrate his exceptional artistic achievements and philanthropic work. It is events like these that make me wish I lived in L.A. *sigh* Hopefully it will be televised.
I am honored to have been asked to be on the Organizing Committee for LITweetup Helps!, a 3-day food drive event for Island Harvest – Long Island’s leading hunger relief organization! I am all for tweetups. And I am all for charity. So why not put the two together? @theshoedawg came up with the idea and I paired him with @namnum, one of the founders of LITweetup. Two weeks later, we, along with the help of @stevehaweeli and @jeanprytyskacz, were able to accomplish this:
If you aren’t busy that weekend and live in the Long Island area, I hope you stop down to one of the events with a donation. It will be great company, great food (Panera…YUM) and for a great cause. How can you go wrong? Check out the official facebook page and the LITweetup website for further information!
