Is Steven Slater a Hero?

I’m sure you’ve all heard about Steven Slater, the Jet Blue flight attendant who went completely nuts (no pun intended) after a confrontation with a rude passenger at JFK? He told the woman off via overhead speaker, grabbed 2 beers and slid down the emergency shoot?  Below is the footage of his crazy escape (although it’s hard to see with that big pole in the way.)



Now, when I first heard this story, I thought, good for him. Taking a stand. Making a scene.  But then, I thought, he could have just went out the regular exit and not been in trouble with the law right now.  What are your thoughts on this?

    I used to be in the airline industry and I know just how hard those flight attendants work, and how little they are appreciated. These days they are also not paid very well either. This action by Steven Slater does not surprise me a bit and I am not sure if you will find a fellow flight attendant that does not support him. I do not agree with taking the 2 beers because that is basically stealing. Now as for the slide, that is another story altogether. They only get to go down that slide once during their initial training and you have to admit that looks kind of fun. The fact that he chose that as his final hoorah so to speak is actually comical despite what the feds think. JMHO!!

    I have no problem with him telling off the passenger. I see how some of them act. I would like to tell some of them off also. The slide is indeed funny. But why cause problems with the feds. You already lost your job. Take the beer as severance pay and just walk away. Again just my opinion.
