I will admit it, I have become addicted to GetGlue. If you’ve never heard of it, the site can best be described as Foursquare for those that prefer to chill at home. And, lets face it, that’s pretty much where I am most of the time.
With GetGlue, can check into TV shows and movies you are watching, albums you are listening to, books you are reading, things you like…pretty much anything that you can find on any of their partner sites. GetGlue rewards loyal users with stickers (similar to badges) that are displayed on your profile when you check-in to your favorite shows and movies. And unlike Foursquare, you can get actual copies of your stickers. Every 30 days, you can request your stickers be mailed to you and they will send you any new ones you earned.
But it isn’t just about the stickers. Based on what you tell GetGlue that you like using the Quick Rate feature, you will get suggestions of similar entertainment. Also, once you start writing reviews for items, you can become the Guru and have special privileges on the page and be entered to win prizes. Currently, there are apps for the iPhone and Android, with iPad coming soon. Blackberry users can use the mobile site to check in, but I find that I use the site to check in most of the time, since I’m home anyway. So, what are you waiting for? Go sign up!
